Do not forget that you will be staff and working on-board is also extremely hard work, where the pace is quick, the hours can be long and at the end of the day you do not go home. Storage space in crew quarters is limited, so we recommend that everyone pack light. All crew quarters are different, but typically an employee can expect to have a small locker and a couple of drawers in which to store belongings.

You may be a long distance from family but keeping in touch is easy due to most cruise ships now having internet cafes, satellite phones and a postal service. If you feel a phone call is the best option we recommended you use the payphones at port locations where the ship will be docked on average 3-4 times per week.

How To Get A Job On A Cruise Ship
First thing you need is the contact details of the companies most likely to employ someone who has never worked on a cruise ship before. You then need to know if they accept email applications, online form, postal applications etc. All that done you now need to send out your applications.

The best way to see if you can get a job with a Cruise Line company is to apply to as many companies as possible and then see what feedback you get.

Luck has played a part in many people finding a job. Their Resume/CV arrived at a company and their skills fitted exactly those of a vacancy created earlier the same day. Companies spend a lot of time and effort not to mention money trying to find people to fill their vacancies. They will sometimes take a chance with you if it looks like you may fit the bill and are ready to go to work.

There are also times when companies need someone to fill a vacancy before a ship sails in a matter of days or a couple of weeks. This is the time when you have the very best chance of landing a job.

If at first you do not succeed you have to keep trying. Never give up hope. Our service will get your job search of to the fastest possible start. We also give you an extensive additional list of links which give you even more opportunities for employment.

Remember that these companies are looking for people who can live far away from home for long periods of time. They are looking for people who, if they do not like the job, will at least stick it out for the entire duration of the first trip before they decide to leave. They try to avoid the situation where someone decides they want home only half way through their first trip. They are looking for people who are going to want to be there. They do not want people who can not do their job well because they are unhappy and wish to go home.

In the past, some new employees have left the ship in a foreign port and made their own way home, leaving the ship short staffed. This can create major problems. Their primary goal is making sure the customers are happy. If someone leaves the ship early, there are less employees to provide the services for the customers. Also the remaining staff have to take extra duties to cover for their departed colleague. This all results in a poorer service for the paying customers. Obviously companies avoid this situation at all costs by trying to find people who will be happy at their work.

You need to make sure that you are capable of staying away from home for several weeks at a time. If not perhaps you should think about a different industry. If you think you can then congratulations, you are part of the way to getting a job already. After all there are jobs to suit just about everyone. So no matter what your skills, experience or qualifications are, if you can happily do your job while away from home there will be something for you onboard.
